Server Troubleshooting & Incident Response

Fast diagnosis and fixes for downtime, performance problems, malware, and misconfiguration — on any Linux server stack.

When a server is down, slow, or behaving strangely, the priority is finding the actual cause — not guessing and restarting services until something seems to work. I diagnose and fix issues across the Linux stack: web servers, databases, mail, DNS, firewalls, and the OS itself.

That includes performance problems (a site that's suddenly slow, a database eating all the CPU), outright outages (a service that won't start, disk that filled up overnight), and security incidents (a compromised site, a server added to a spam blacklist, suspicious processes).

The fix addresses the immediate problem and the cause behind it — so the same issue doesn't come back next month. If it's something that needs ongoing attention, that can roll into Server Management afterward.

What's Included

  • Root-cause analysis for downtime, crashes, and resource exhaustion
  • Performance profiling — CPU, memory, disk I/O, and slow database queries
  • Malware and backdoor detection and cleanup for compromised sites
  • Log analysis across web, mail, database, and system services
  • Fixes for DNS, SSL, firewall, and permission misconfigurations
  • Post-incident hardening so the same issue doesn't recur

Frequently Asked Questions

My site is down right now — how fast can you respond?
Get in touch with what's happening and access details, and I'll let you know realistic timing based on current load. For active outages, the priority is getting the service back up first and doing a full write-up after.
I think my server has been hacked — what should I do first?
Don't reboot or delete anything yet, if you can avoid it — that can destroy evidence of how the attacker got in. Send what you're seeing (unexpected files, alerts, blocked emails) and I'll guide the first steps.
Is this a one-time fix, or do you offer ongoing support?
Both — many troubleshooting requests are resolved as a single fix. If the server would benefit from regular attention going forward, that's covered under Server Management.
Do you need full root access to investigate?
Root or sudo access makes diagnosis much faster, but a temporary account with sudo can work too — whatever fits your security policy.
